Last Friday I had the honor to do a Pitch in a TED Talk form about the important role that Diaspora (Migrants) and their local partners play in Development Cooperation.

The event ´Op de Bres voor OS´ was organized by the Foundation Max van der Stoel to discuss the value of development cooperation. In what ways have development projects contributed to a fairer world? What are positive examples and how can we take a political stand against the budget cuts?

I told my story and also the story of Diaspora I work with that have been doing impactful projects in Africa for more than 15 years like Nellie Kirschner-Timmer and Abdisalam Ali

During the evening there was also an interview with Ellen Mangnus who shared her knowledge and views on Development Cooperation. After that a panel discussion between Danielle Hirsch and Lara Wolters.  I am very happy to hear how they are advocating for equal and sustainable ways of development cooperation and making sure people from the Countries in the South where the projects are will be heard!

I hope Diaspora(migrants) that are engaged in Development Cooperation will get the chance to get noticed but also that they become consultants within the Development Cooperation policy making. They know best of both worlds!

Thank you Max van der Stoel Foundation for having me and keep up the good work!
